Effect of Aroma Intensity on Degree of Randomness of Electrogastrogram Signal

The study investigated the effect of food odors on gastric motility using electrogastrograms (EGGs) to measure the electrical activity controlling gastric motility. The Wayland algorithm was used to analyze the determinism of EGGs during olfactory stimulation. The results showed a positive correlation between odor intensity and translation error (Etrans), suggesting that stronger odor perception increases the randomness in the mathematical model of EGGs. This suggests that food odors may influence digestive processes.
